Weakness or strength...

A young boy had lost his left arm in a devastating accident. But the boy had a great desire to learn judo, inspite of his handicap.

His parents arranged for a judo teacher. The boy started his training with complete belief in his teacher.

Almost three months had passed since the boy had started training. But to his surprise, he had learnt only one move. With some reservations, but believing in his teacher, he continued.

Now, six months had already passed, and he was still fixed on only one move. With some anxiety, he approached his teacher one day and asked, " Sensei, shouldn't I be learning some more moves?". The teacher answered with a perky smile in his voice," This move is the only one you'll ever need to know!!"

Somewhat confused but still believing in his teacher he continued. The teacher enrolled him in a competition the next month.

To his amazement, the boy had easily won his initial matches. In the advanced rounds the boy met a stronger opponent, but he deftly used his pne move to pin him down.
To his utter surprise, the boy was now in the finals. This time the opponent was stronger, bigger and more experienced. For sometime the boy appeared to be overmatched. Fearing that the boy would get hurt, the referee called Timeout and opined to suspend the match. But the teacher persuaded him to continue. Soon after, the opponent got frustated and dropped his guard, and the boy used his move to win the match. He was now the champion.

On their way home, as the boy and the teacher were reviewing each match, th boy summoned up courage to ask the teacher," Sensei, how did I win with only one move?"
The teacher answered," first of all, you have mastered one of the most difficult throws of all judo. And second, the only defence to that move is for your opponent to grab your left arm!"

Weakness or Strength. You name it???

Value

A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?"
Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this." He proceeded to crumple the dollar bill up. He then asked, "Who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air.
"Well," he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe.
He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty. "Now who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air.
"My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20.
Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. You are special - Don't ever forget it!

Touching life story

A young man was getting ready to graduate college. For
many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's
showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it,
he told him that was all he wanted.
As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited
signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning
of his graduation his father called him into his private
study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and
told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful
wrapped gift box.
Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man
opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible.
Angrily, he raised his voice at his father and said,
"With all your money you give me a Bible?"
and stormed out of the house, leaving the holy book.
Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business.
He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his
father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had
not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make
arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had
passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed
to come home immediately and take care things.
When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart.
He began to search his father's important papers and
saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago.
With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages.
As he read those words,
a car key dropped from an envelope taped behind the Bible.
It had a tag with the dealer's name,
the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired.
On the tag was the date of his graduation,
and the words...PAID IN FULL.
How many times do we miss God's blessings because they are not packaged as we expected?

Unconditional Love

A story is told about a soldier who was finally coming home after having fought in Vietnam. He called his parents from San Francisco.
"Mom and Dad, I'm coming home, but I've a favor to ask. I have a friend I'd like to bring home with me."
"Sure," they replied, "we'd love to meet him."
"There's something you should know the son continued, "he was hurt pretty badly in the fighting. He stepped on a land mind and lost an arm and a leg. He has nowhere else to go, and I want him to come live with us."
"I'm sorry to hear that, son. Maybe we can help him find somewhere to live."
"No, Mom and Dad, I want him to live with us."
"Son," said the father, "you don't know what you're asking. Someone with such a handicap would be a terrible burden on us. We have our own lives to live, and we can't let something like this interfere with our lives. I think you should just come home and forget about this guy. He'll find a way to live on his own."
At that point, the son hung up the phone. The parents heard nothing more from him. A few days later, however, they received a call from the San Francisco police. Their son had died after falling from a building, they were told. The police believed it was suicide. The grief-stricken parents flew to San Francisco and were taken to the city morgue to identify the body of their son. They recognized him, but to their horror they also discovered something they didn't know, their son had only one arm and one leg.

BE PATIENT

This is a true story which happened in the States.
A man came out of his home to admire his new truck.
To his puzzlement, his three-year-old son was happily hammering dents into the shiny paint of the truck.
The man ran to his son, knocked him away, hammered the little boy's hands into pulp as punishment.
When the father calmed down, he rushed his son to the hospital. Although the doctor tried desperately to save the crushed bones, he finally had to amputate the fingers from both the boy's hands.
When the boy woke up from the surgery & saw his bandaged stubs, he innocently said, " Daddy, I'm sorry about your truck." Then he asked, "but when are my fingers going to grow back?"
The father went home & committed suicide.

This is our Dr. Kalam

Let's look at our current president: Dr. APJ abdul kalam

An excerpt from SPEECH DELIVERED BY DR.KALAM, WHILE BECOMING PRESIDENT.

"As a young citizen of India, armed with technology, knowledge and love for my nation, I realise, small aim is a crime. I will work and sweat for a great vision, the vision of transforming India into a developed nation, powered by economic strength and with value system. I am one of the citizens of billion; Only the vision will ignite the billion souls. It has entered into me; The ignited soul compared to any resource is the most powerful resource on the earth, above the earth under the earth.
I will keep the lamp of knowledge burning to achieve the vision - Developed India. If we work and sweat for the great vision with ignited minds, the transformation leading to birth of vibrant developed India will happen. This song, when sung in our own beautiful languages will unite our minds for action."

In my view he should stay. This guy is great.
I would now like to put across a few incidents worth mentioning, which the great man savors.

"On another occasion, I addressed a very large gathering of students at St Mary's School, Dindigul, in Tamil Nadu, on their 75th anniversary celebrations. Among the large number of children wishing to meet me were two who were in a hurry to get an answer from me. One student asked, 'I have read your book Agni Siragugal (the Tamil version of Wings of Fire). You always give a message to dream.
Tell me, why dream?' My answer was to ask the gathered children to recite the following: 'Dream, dream, dream. Dream transforms into thoughts. Thoughts result in actions.' I told them, 'Friends, if there are no dreams, there are no revolutionary thoughts; if there are no thoughts, no actions will emanate. Hence, parents and teachers should allow their children to dream. Success always follows dreams attempted, though there may be some setbacks and delays.'Another boy asked, 'Please tell me, who would be the first scientist in the world?' It occurred to me-science was born and survives only by questions.
The whole foundation of science is questioning. And as parents and teachers well know, children are the source of unending questions. Hence, 'Child is the first scientist,' I replied. There was thunderous applause. The children enjoyed this different way of thinking. Teachers and parents also smiled at the answer."

"One child came to me with a serious expression and asked, 'Sir, will your Agni missile cross the ocean and reach America?' I was a little startled by this thought. 'For us no country is our enemy to send the Agni there. Particularly, America is our friend. Agni symbolises our strength. It shows that India has all the capabilities.'"

What I am trying to put across here is one simple point. He is an Indian Idol. We feel proud of him. हम गर्व से कहते है कि Dr. Kalam हमारे प्रधानमंत्री है। That's why it is of great pertinence that we should have a president that everyone citizen should be proud of. Constitutionally we can think, he anyways has negligible powers to execute. He practically just has to make speeches. This is with no disrespect to the great institution of Presidency in our country.
Okay, I admit I am wrong while saying he just has to make speeches. He reviews the bills passed in the parliament. He can order them to be reconsidered. He is the supreme commander of all the armed forces. He even has the power to pardon supreme court's judgement in some very extreme cases. There are more too...
But none of them are executive. In my view the best thing a president can achieve is to inspire the citizens. Become a zenith, a pedestal.
One can even argue that if he does not have any executive powers, then why should we even worry about who will be the next president. Well, we should, because he will be our next president.

Cheers,
Vinay

this is really interesting...

I had this mail a couple of days before..

What a coincidence! Someone has done a lot of research!!!!!

No history teacher told us the following (I suppose) ....

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost a child while living in the WhiteHouse.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head.

Now it gets really weird.

Lincoln 's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born 1839
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born 1939

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat !

Lincoln was shot at the theater named "Ford."
Kennedy was shot in a car called " Lincoln" made by "Ford."

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

And here's the "kicker":

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

Lincoln was shot in a theater and the assassin ran to a warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and the assassin ran to a theater.

Is this the definition of COINCIDENCE?
